I'm a mobile and web busybody, addicted moblogger and mobile convergence commentator.

I've created with much help three main websites which centre on community and the evolving use of mobile technologies, moblogUK, We're not afraid and Stopped Clocks.

I set up moblogUK, with Mat Brown, it is a mobile blogging site that is recognised as being one of the best moblogging platforms and communities in the world. A version of our moblogging platform also powers UK broadcaster Channel 4's The Big Art Mob.

Contact us about moblogging stuff, we're lovely to work with.

I have had the privilege of being a speaker or panel member at many conferences and debates around the subjects of mobile telecoms, online and mobile community and covergence, and have enjoyed being a guest on TV channels as varied as the BBC, CNN, SKY, NTT Docomo, Fox news and Good Morning America talking about the mobile ecosystem in the UK, online community and online activism.

Restart Night - Leeds 29th May!

(viewed 181 times)
Anyone lucky enough to live in Leeds is up for a treat, Restart style. We have booked the excellent Faversham Venue and have some great bands lined up to rock socks! As ever, we are raising funds for the Stopped Clocks charity (yes, we're a bona fide charity now) to help restore stopped public clocks in Leeds.
Leeds has some amazing Stopped Clocks, The Dyson Clocks at the Georgetown restaurant, the historic Griffin Hotel clock above the Comfort Inn for example. In a lot of cases those people responsible for keeping these clocks in working order simply don't care enough to get the work done, and raising awareness of this is part of what we do too.

However! I'm here to tell you about the awesome night we have planned at the Faversham. The excellent independent ticket operator We Got Tickets is supporting our efforts, donating £0.50 of all ticket sales to the Stopped Clocks Charity.
Standard tickets are available here and concessions tickets available here Keep track of the event at our Upcoming.org page, and if you use Last.fm you can track the event there too. Please do invite friends and pass the knowledge far and wide!

Bands:

Dinosaur Pile Up

Matt writes songs all day and records them on his 8-track recorder. He drinks coffee, loves Star Wars type stuff and is late for everything. Tommy DM helps Matt out by playing bass guitar live, he's a super nice guy, and he looks great in a head band. Ben 'Shakey' Waddleton is helping Matt out on the skins, kickin' beats like it's 1980.

DROWNED IN SOUND:
"An ex-Mother Vulpine by the name of Matt teams up with two mates, forming Dinosaur Pile-Up, to play indie-pop that bridges the gulf between The Cribs chirpy-chappie sing-alongs and the skewed intellectualism of Lets Wrestle"

ARTROCKER:

"I like Dinosaur Pile Up. They have a poppy Husker-Di kind of atmosphere, with nice vocal harmonies. It was stripped back and it sounds quite exciting, and easy to listen to."

CLASH MAGAZINE:

"Blaggers 'N' Liars" is a swaggering, bluesy beast.. Kav looks set to well and truly get the party started!"

THE GUARDIAN:

".... On his forthcoming Blaggers & Liars EP..... Lizard King starts off slow and swaggering and features bluesy slide guitar before transforming into a Led Zep-ish riff monster, like The Stone Roses circa Second Coming. Easy is a blues-soaked missive about life's
"chancers" And Satanic Circus Mask makes you think of The Stones' Sympathy For The Devil hauled into the digital age by Death In Vegas".
